The P9 turnatble is Rega's 'ultimate statement' turntable, built with a 'cost no object' philosophy to allow them to incorporate the best materials and engineering tolerances.

The Rega P9 uses a pure ceramic platter, this extremely hard material ( only diamond is harder ) is an ideal support for an LP, minimising structure borne resonances and has very stable mass distribution for accurate speed. The plinth, in turn, uses equally high end materials in the form of Phenolic resin laminates, which are light yet immensely rigid. The principle being to filter out and control resonance and therefore give a clearer more accurate sound.

The P9 uses a substantial separate power supply to provide the motor with a clean, stable power source. This as, with other high end decks, helps the motor drive through the demanding drag provided by the stylus on dynamic recordings. Lesser turntable will actually slow down due to the increased friction.

Why is it better than a P7? - The P9 adds another layer of clarity and realism over the P7. The improved timing and scale of the sound provided by the large power supply are very apparent and with the pinpoint imagery and deep soundstage the P9 gives a very 'Live performance' feel to anything it plays. The P9 can more effectively be used with high end cartridges too. The RB1000 tone arm used is the match for pretty much anything on the market.

Sitting here (11.30pm) in my living room listening to this wonderful peace of art I have to write to you.
Thank you so much delivering the unit in such a nice and competent way. It was a real pleasure to meet you and your lovely wife.

At Sunday evening the system started to sound much better and less crispy in the middle heights.
Now on Tuesday evening it sounds just great! I have to listen to all my LPs and find most of them really new to me.

So much details, pressure and clearness without being sharp or nervous - this is exactly what I was looking for. And together with my Piega its breathtaking!
I just compared to the Clearaudio again and could not believe how much cloudier and clumpy it sounds! Unbelievable.

I do not now which part of that package does the job. But it doesn't matter for me - it's the sum. Rega did a good job.

Just that silly felt mat is a joke! Every time it sticks on the LP and I have to take it and put it back. And -- I can not fix it with adhesive to the platter, the surface is too smooth, it does not stick. So I have to think how to solve that little problem

Having always wondered what a high end turntable was capable of, i was offered a short trial of Synergy AV's demo P9/Exact. It turned out to be a much longer trial than planned!
The sound of the deck is simply superb with instruments and voices sounding so realistic, with great dynamics but smooth and relaxed at the same time. Don't take my word for it though, audition it for yourself
