The Rega P7 turntable uses the excellent RB700 tonearm also found on the P5. It also has as standard the TTpsu power supply.
The P7 moves on from using glass as a platter material, instead using highly effective ceramic, as on the P9. This extremely hard material is an ideal support for an LP, minimising structure borne resonances and has very stable mass distribution for accurate speed. The version on the P7 uses a thinner piece of ceramic than the P9 as the cost of this would be prohibitive, but also has smaller discs of ceramic bonded to the underside of the platter to add mass and aid speed stability. This makes it probably the best looking of the 'P' series, looking a little like a hi-tech Michell Gyrodek
Why is it better than a P5? - The P7 has and absolutely astonishing dynamic, especially at this price and a musicality way beyond its peers. Even quite poor recordings take on a clarity and focus that really pulls out the artists performance and keeps you riveted.
