The P5 turntable took over from the popular 25th anniversary model, The P25 and was very nearly called the P30 as the concept was born in their 30th year…except that by the time it was ready for sale, Rega had clocked up an extra year.
Expanding on the simple but effective technology of the classic P3 the P5 uses then plinth structure and excellent RB700 tonearm from the P7
The famous Rega glass platter is incorporated into the design, still being one of the most cost effective ways to give high mass and accurate tolerances from an inert material.
Why is it better than a P3? - improved detail and presence, but also a fuller and even more controlled bass. Plus the ability to use higher end cartridges.
The P5 can be easily upgraded by use of the TTpsu supply which increases motor torque and smoothes the drive to produce a much improved dynamic and soundstage
